Frequently asked questions

What is a Claude Skill?

A Claude Skill is a folder containing a SKILL.md file — plain-language instructions, and sometimes scripts or reference documents, that teach an AI assistant how to perform a specific task well. It changes how a task is done, not what the assistant can reach; that's what an MCP server does instead.

Is there an official Claude Skills marketplace?

Anthropic doesn't run a single public marketplace for skills — most are published as open-source repositories on GitHub, scattered across individual maintainers and organizations. RepoAI collects, classifies and trust-scores skills from across those repositories in one place, so a listing here is a directory entry, not an official Anthropic storefront unless marked "Official."

How do I download and install a Claude Skill?

A skill installs by placing its folder in the skills directory your client reads from — the exact path differs by client (Claude.ai, Claude Code, Claude Desktop). There's no separate download step: you copy the folder from its source repository into place and restart the client.

What does a skill's trust score measure?

It's a signal-based score — source type, maintenance activity, license clarity, and whether the spec is well-formed — describing where a skill came from and how it's kept up, not a review of whether its instructions are correct or safe to run. Read the instructions yourself before installing anything with file or command access.

Is this hub affiliated with Anthropic?

No — RepoAI is an independent directory, not affiliated with Anthropic or the maintainers of any listed skill unless a listing explicitly says "Official."
